HolyDays Summer Day Camp last week

Well 4 weeks have passed - and we are on our last days of Summer Day Camp.  I can't help but boast of the good work that has been done by our Director, Co-Ordinator, Counselors and all the Counselors in training.  Today was a particularly good example of how they were all able to roll with the punches - so to speak.  Thursday is outing day at camp.  We were supposed to go to Albion Hills conservation Park and swim and play games on their new splash pad / pool.  The weather meant there had to be a change - so we booked a movie - a private group screening - in Richmond Hill. The bus company some how messed up their booking and had our buses scheduled for Friday!  (This was the 4th Thursday outing in a row - where did they get Friday from?!) When you are supposed to board the bus at 9:15 and they don't get to the School until 10 am - you need to occupy the Campers - and think on your feet.  Well it was clear that the experiences that our Counselors have had in other settings - and the quick thinking of Stephanie - meant that they came up a few games to keep everyone occupied.  And the theatre was also flexible - and a good time was had by all!
Here is part of an email I received yesterday:
My daughter ... has been attending the HolyDays summer camp and I wanted to let you know that we are so very impressed with the camp.  My daughter has been having such a wonderful time making friends and participating in all the fun activities Stephanie and Erin have planned. The camp idea was such a great one ... I love the crafts and stories my daughter has brought home each day. She so much enjoyed making cookies with yourself and making a rosary with Fr. Sherwin. I am so very touched that you both were involved with the camp activities and I know my daughter is super excitied to see you both ... now she also has these wonderful memories of getting to know you both on a different level. Thank you for that.I wanted to commend Stephanie and Erin for their INCREDIBLE work. These two ladies are fantastic and a pleasure to see each day. You can tell they have put their hearts into every decision. Their beautiful smiles light up the room. May God Bless you all and I hope that you continue this camp for years to come.
Its letters like this that remind us of how much the work is worth the effort!
Peace
